Who is this Legend?
Jack Ury was one of the most loved poker personalities. He played in the WSOP Main Events for four consecutive years. Despite being blind in one eye and deaf in one ear, nothing stopped him from pursuing his passion for the game. Even with limited vision, he played for 14 hours a day at WSOP events, often assisted by his grandson and tablemates.
Besides poker, his life was also legendary. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served in World War II. Later, he served as a postal worker in the US Postal Service.
Ury passed away in 2011 at the age of 97 in Terra Haute, Indiana. He is survived by his four daughters, eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. His story inspires us in many ways. Age should never stop you from pursuing your passion.
Also, we will never forget his memorable phrase – “You’re in Trouble”.
