What Happened Here?
Preflop
The players who enter the pot have the following hands:
Kallakis: 9♠ 5♠
Flanders: 5♦ 4♣
O’Dea: 3♥ 3♦
O’Dea and Kallakis limp in while Flanders (Big Blind) checks; this makes a pot of 6000 chips.
Flop
6♠ 4♠ 3♠
It’s an unbelievable flop where Flanders hits a Straight, Kallakis hits a Flush and O’Dea hits a set.
Kallakis, hoping to set a trap with a Flush, checks on the Flop.
Flanders, with a straight, also checks.
O’Dea with a set bets 6000. Kallakis makes a quick call with a Flush. Kallakis is confident that he has the best hand and slowplays to allow others to take the betting lead.
Flanders also calls.
Turn
6♠ 4♠ 3♠ K♥
A King hits on the turn.
Kallakis checks again. A slowplay on the turn can get dangerous on the River. Even though he has the best hand, he is allowing other players to improve their hands. He should make a big bet and force at least one player to fold. A three-way pot can affect his equity.
Flanders bets 20,000. Even though he has a straight, he should have been highly suspicious of the fact that anyone might be setting a trap with a flush.
O’Dea calls as he has a set and still has 10 outs that can improve his hand to a full house or quads.
Kallakis also calls.
River
6♠ 4♠ 3♠ K♥ 3♣
As suspected, a slowplay by Kallakis proved to be very costly. It’s now – Straight Vs Flush Vs Quads!
Kallakis checks as it has become a very dangerous river.
Flanders also checks.
O’Dea bets 40,000. Kallakis still thinks that he has the best hand and calls.
Flanders looks very uncomfortable and makes a wise fold. O’Dea shows his Quads!
Seriously, What a Hand!
